I’m Now Certain Past Lives Exist – Just Had This Realization

Hello, this is the admin. Did you know that in the abyss of the Japanese internet, in its quiet corners, there are stories secretly whispered?

Behind the deep darkness of anonymity, numerous strange incidents are still passed down. Here, we have carefully selected those mysterious stories – stories of unknown origin, yet strangely vivid – that might send shivers down your spine, make your heart ache, or even overturn common sense.

You're sure to find stories you've never known. So, are you prepared to read…?

[1] I had this incredibly realistic dream. Like, super vivid. It was about a bus accident, maybe a landslide or something. And get this, it was so clear I even remember the calendar on the bus said August 1968.

[2] So I woke up, thought ‘man, that was way too real,’ looked it up, and BAM! The bus accident actually happened. That’s when I knew. I’m convinced.

  • [3] Well, uh… kinda sad to think this life might be meaningless too, then.

[7] >>3 No way!!! Things could get better from here on out!!!!

  • [4] That’s scary.
  • [5] It’s just residual memory encoded in your DNA.

[13] >>5 That’s actually kinda romantic in its own way, isn’t it?

  • [99] >>5 Like Assassin’s Creed, huh.
  • [6] Ah, the Hida River bus plunge accident? 104 deaths… that’s way too many casualties.

Hida River Bus Plunge Accident: The Hida River Bus Plunge Accident (Hidagawa basu tenraku jiko) was a bus accident caused by a landslide that occurred on August 18, 1968 (Showa 43) on National Route 41 in Shirakawa Town, Kamo District, Gifu Prefecture. Of 15 tour buses heading towards Mount Norikura, two buses owned by Okazaki Kanko Jidosha (later merged to become Meitetsu Tobu Kanko Bus, now Meitetsu Kanko Bus Okazaki Office) were caught in a landslide triggered by torrential rain, plunged into the swollen Hida River, resulting in the deaths of 104 out of 107 passengers and crew. It became the worst bus accident in Japanese history.

[8] >>6 Yeah, that’s the one!!! I’d never even heard of an accident like that, couldn’t even read the place name. Tried typing ‘Hizengawa’ and got nothing. But that’s gotta be it, definitely.

[9] Hida-gawa, right.

  • [10] If you could provide some proof you actually had that dream, it might actually generate some buzz.

[14] >>10 I don’t care if it becomes a hot topic. I’m just convinced now, and I want this to reach people who hope for past and future lives.

[11] Anyway, everyone, past lives are real. I’m absolutely sure now. Which means future lives exist too.

  • [12] >>1 If that’s the case, you’re the reincarnation of my grandpa.
  • [15] It’s not a past life, it’s possession. Happens when your wavelength matches someone who died and wants to be known. That’s also why kids sometimes talk about past lives.

[17] >>15 Like Shaman King or something? You mean like an Itako?

Itako are spirit mediums, primarily found in the Tohoku region of Japan, who are said to summon the spirits of the dead and convey their words.

  • [16] A calendar on the bus?

[19] >>16 Yeah, on the wall behind the driver’s seat, kinda near where it meets the entrance. Why do you question that?

  • [35] >>19 So you were sitting pretty far up front, huh.

[37] >>35 Yeah, way up at the front!!

  • [18] Hoping for a ‘Your Name.’ kind of development.
  • [20] I have vivid dreams too, but I’ve concluded they’re just composites of things I’ve seen somewhere. Ultimately, we’re all just isolated in the little garden box of our brains.

[21] >>20 Nah, but there’s no way I would have come across the Hida River bus accident.

  • [30] >>21 Maybe someone in your DNA line saw it in the newspaper. You’ve probably seen bus accidents in some movie or show. Or maybe you saw it on TV and just don’t remember?
  • [23] I don’t believe in past lives.

[25] I get it, it’s hard to believe. Seriously, I used to be more of a skeptic myself, so I totally understand. But I’m convinced now. It’s not just some occult stuff.

  • [27] If it’s like that movie ‘Reincarnation,’ you’ll die the same way. Watch out for buses.
  • [28] I was the one sitting next to you.
  • [29] They say things you unconsciously see or hear show up in dreams, maybe it’s just that?
  • [31] When were you born?

[34] >>31 Born in ’92.

[32] Even if it was just some residual information I picked up somewhere, I still wonder why I was the one experiencing the accident in the dream.

  • [36] So there are future lives too, huh. Alright…
  • [40] Rather than past lives, I find it more believable that your brain just picked up some stray TV waves or something floating around.
  • [41] I had the same dream too!

[42] Okay, I’m calming down a bit. Yeah, I know it’s impossible to just demand you believe me, this isn’t something you can force. You can’t understand this strange sense of reality without experiencing it yourself.

  • [44] Well, experiences like that… the person having them gets super excited, but everyone else is usually pretty chill about it. I believe you, though.

[46] >>44 You really can believe me!!!

  • [45] It’s easy to deny things. Like the foolish crowd criticizing Galileo when he said the Earth was round.

[47] >>45 It’s just sad that this whole past/future life thing probably can’t be proven scientifically, so I’ll never get that day to feel smug about it.

  • [52] Died in 1968, born in 1992? Isn’t that like, the life before your last one?
  • [54] You’re switched! You gotta switch back again and change history.
  • [55] The sole survivor of that accident gave their first testimony just last year or so, it was briefly in the news. Maybe you saw that?

[56] Quite a few people are suggesting it’s just residual information I heard somewhere repeating. Like >>55 mentioning TV news? If that was on TV last year, then definitely not possible. Haven’t watched TV in about two years.

  • [57] Nobody believes you, so just drop it. Can’t it just be true for you?

[59] >>57 Why are you so irritated this early on a Saturday morning?

  • [61] >>59 Right, no imagination [literal: no dreams].
  • [58] I’ve had a similar experience. Not an accident, but a dream where I spent about a week in a town I’d never seen before.

[62] >>58 You mean you slept for a week? Or just that a week passed inside the dream? That’s an amazing story too.

  • [60] So, how many dreams have you had in your life, and how many of them depicted the past? This time, keywords like ‘bus accident’ and the date might have linked it to a real event, but you’ve probably had thousands more dreams that didn’t link to anything. Why can you definitively say it’s not just a coincidence that this one dream happened to match a real event out of all the dreams you’ve had?

[63] >>60 You’re right, but more important than the points matching reality was the utterly strange feeling of the experience. It had a sense of reality unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.

  • [66] To answer seriously, it’s just déjà vu. Not even a dream.

[67] >>66 Isn’t that different from déjà vu? I didn’t feel any sense of ‘seen this before’ at all.

  • [68] Bringing up this kind of topic on a forum like this is pointless. It’s full of people who think being negative is cool.
  • [69] Might have been different if you posted late at night.

[70] >>69 Because I just woke up from the dream!

  • [72] Was it Ian Stevenson’s research? People who die traumatically often reincarnate quickly. Maybe you should offer your case as data?

[75] >>72 I’ll look him up.

  • [86] What are dreams, anyway? My dream was to be the captain of a space battleship.
  • [87] Some people who claim to remember past lives even recall their names from back then. Why don’t you try visiting the memorial monument?

[89] >>87 There’s a memorial? I actually kinda want to go see it.

  • [92] >>89 It’s along the road near the accident site. There’s a tower called Tenshin Shiragiku no Tou (Tower of the Celestial Innocent White Chrysanthemum).

[94] >>92 Thanks, I’ll look it up.

  • [90] Isn’t it just amnesia?

[93] >>90 Wouldn’t that be even scarier?

  • [97] You guys are really fired up this morning.
  • [103] In the dream, do you see yourself dying in the accident? Whose perspective is it from?

[105] >>103 The perspective in the dream was mine. I woke up right as the accident happened.

  • [106] Whether it’s true or not, I don’t dislike stories like this.
  • [108] Are you maybe… Takashi from back then?

[109] >>108 Tetsuo…?

  • [111] Lately, I’ve started to seriously think that when people die, they just start over from somewhere else.
